  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a round cake tin.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ground almonds and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs until they are fluffy and have doubled in size.
  4. Gradually add the almond and sugar mixture to the beaten eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Add the lemon zest and mix until well combined.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Before serving, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar.
