Gamjatang
Gamjatang is a spicy Korean pork bone soup with potatoes and vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Water - 8 cups
- Black pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Gochujang (korean red pepper paste) - 3 tablespoons
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Green onions - 4, chopped
- Onion - 1 medium, sliced
- Potatoes - 2 large, peeled and cut into chunks
- Pork bones - 2 lbs
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, add the pork bones and enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes to remove any impurities. Drain and rinse the bones.
- In the same pot, add the pork bones, water, onion, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour.
- Skim off any foam or impurities that rise to the surface.
- Add the potatoes, gochujang, soy sauce, and salt. Continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
- Stir in the green onions and sesame oil. Season with black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
