Gai Pad King
Gai Pad King, also known as Thai Ginger Chicken, is a flavorful stir-fry dish made with chicken, ginger, garlic, and vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Red chili pepper - 1, thinly sliced (optional)
- Thai basil leaves - 1/4 cup
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Oyster sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Mushrooms - 8 ounces, sliced
- Bell pepper - 1, thinly sliced
- Onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 2 tablespoons, minced
- Chicken breast - 2, boneless and skinless, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, marinate the chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add minced ginger and garlic, and stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add sliced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Add Thai basil leaves and sliced red chili pepper (if using), and stir-fry for 1 minute.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
