Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Mayonnaise - 1 cup
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Calabrian chiles - 2, finely chopped
- Salt - To taste
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2
- Flour - 1 cup
- Mixed seafood - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- Prepare the aioli by combining the chopped Calabrian chiles, minced garlic, mayonnaise, and lemon juice in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
- Clean and prepare the seafood. Pat dry with a paper towel.
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs.
- Dredge the seafood in the flour, then dip in the egg, and finally coat in the breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the breaded seafood in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Drain the fried seafood on a paper towel-lined plate and season with salt.
- Serve the fritto misto hot with the Calabrian chile aioli on the side for dipping.
