Fiskgratäng
Fiskgratäng is a delicious Swedish fish casserole made with white fish, creamy sauce, and topped with breadcrumbs and cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Grated cheese - 1/2 cup
- Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Milk - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- White fish fillets - 500g
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
- Add the flour to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens.
- Stir in the Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Place the fish fillets in a greased baking dish. Pour the sauce over the fish.
- In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and grated cheese. Sprinkle the mixture over the fish and sauce.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the topping is golden and crispy.
- Serve the fiskgratäng hot with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad.
