Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add the eggs, softened butter, evaporated milk, and water. Mix until well combined.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a rope shape, then twist it into a coil shape. Place the coils on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the baking sheet with a clean kitchen towel and let the coils rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the ensaymada for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter. Sprinkle grated cheese and sugar on top.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
