Fish Siu Mai
Fish Siu Mai is a traditional Chinese dumpling usually served as part of a dim sum. This recipe uses fish as a lighter alternative to the traditional pork filling.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Carrot - 1, finely chopped for garnish
- Wonton wrappers - 20 pieces
- White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Shrimp - 100 grams, peeled and deveined
- White fish fillet - 200 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a food processor, combine the fish, shrimp, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and white pepper. Pulse until the mixture forms a paste.
- Place a spoonful of the fish mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Gather the edges of the wrapper and press them together to form a pouch, leaving the top of the filling exposed.
- Top each dumpling with a small amount of chopped carrot.
- Steam the dumplings in a bamboo steamer over boiling water for 10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
- Serve the Fish Siu Mai hot with soy sauce for dipping.
