Empanadas de Carne
These traditional Argentine meat pies are filled with a savory mixture of beef, onions, and spices, then baked until golden.
Ingredients - Serves 12
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Empanada dough - 12 rounds
- Green olives - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Hard-boiled eggs - 2, chopped
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onions - 2, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onions over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
- Add the garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper and cook for another minute.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the hard-boiled eggs and olives.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each empanada dough round.
- Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and crimp the edges to seal.
- Place the empanadas on the prepared baking sheet and brush with the beaten egg.
