Empada de Atum
Empada de Atum, or Tuna Pie, is a popular Portuguese dish. It's a savory pie filled with a delicious tuna mixture.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Puff pastry - 500 grams
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Tomato - 1, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Canned tuna - 2 cans, drained
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the chopped tomato to the pan and cook until it's soft.
- Add the drained tuna, parsley, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir well to combine.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut out circles. Place a spoonful of the tuna mixture in the center of each circle.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
- Brush the top of each pie with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until the pies are golden brown.
