Cubanito
Cubanito is a traditional Cuban sandwich made with ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and sometimes salami on Cuban bread.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Butter - For spreading
- Dill pickles - 8 slices
- Swiss cheese - 8 slices
- Ham - 1 pound, thinly sliced
- Roast pork - 1 pound, thinly sliced
- Yellow mustard - 4 tablespoons
- Cuban bread - 1 loaf
Let's Get Started
- Cut the Cuban bread into 4 equal parts, then slice each part in half lengthwise.
- Spread mustard on the inside of each bread slice.
- Layer the roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles on one half of each sandwich.
- Top with the other half of the bread.
- Spread butter on the outside of each sandwich.
- Heat a pan over medium heat, then place the sandwiches in the pan.
- Press down on the sandwiches with a heavy object, such as a cast iron skillet, and cook until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes per side.
