Costillar Cantonés
Costillar Cantones is a popular Chinese-Cuban dish. It's a succulent pork rib dish marinated in a sweet and tangy sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Five spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Honey - 1/4 cup
- Soy sauce - 1/2 cup
- Pork ribs - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- Cut the ribs into individual pieces.
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, five spice powder, and vinegar to make the marinade.
- Add the ribs to the marinade and let them marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight in the fridge.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Place the ribs on a baking tray and reserve the marinade.
- Bake the ribs for about 1 hour, or until they are cooked through and caramelized.
- While the ribs are baking, pour the reserved marinade into a saucepan.
- Mix the cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry, then add it to the saucepan.
- Cook the marinade over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens into a sauce.
- Once the ribs are done, brush them with the sauce and serve.
