Shrimp with Black Bean Sauce
This delicious shrimp dish is made with a savory black bean sauce and served over steamed rice.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Onion - 1, sliced
- Bell peppers - 1, sliced
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Black bean sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Shrimp - 1 pound, peeled and deveined
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, mix together the black bean sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and cornstarch.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Cook until the vegetables are tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and pour in the black bean sauce mixture. Stir well to coat the shrimp and vegetables.
- Add the water and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the shrimp with black bean sauce over steamed rice, garnished with chopped green onions.
