Com Tam Sai Gon
Com Tam Sai Gon is a popular Vietnamese dish made with broken rice, grilled pork, pickled vegetables, and a fried egg.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Eggs - 4
- Green onions - 4, chopped
- Radishes - 4, sliced
- Carrots - 2, julienned
- Cucumber - 1, sliced
- Lemongrass - 2 stalks, minced
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 1/4 cup
- Pork chops - 4 pieces
- Broken rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the broken rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions.
- In a bowl, combine the fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and minced lemongrass. Marinate the pork chops in this mixture for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated pork chops for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sliced cucumber, julienned carrots, sliced radishes, and chopped green onions. Set aside.
- In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the eggs sunny-side up or according to your preference.
- To serve, divide the cooked broken rice among four plates. Top each plate with a grilled pork chop, a fried egg, and a portion of the pickled vegetables.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot and enjoy!
