Coffee Braised Short Ribs
These tender, flavorful short ribs are braised in a rich coffee sauce for a unique and satisfying dish.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Bay leaves - 2
- Thyme - 2 sprigs
- Beef broth - 2 cups
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Coffee - 2 cups, brewed
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onions - 2, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Short ribs - 4 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Season the short ribs with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the short ribs and brown on all sides, about 10 minutes.
- Remove the short ribs from the pot and set aside.
- Add the onions and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the coffee, brown sugar, beef broth, thyme, and bay leaves. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the short ribs to the pot, cover, and reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the short ribs are tender.
- Remove the short ribs from the pot and strain the sauce. Serve the short ribs with the sauce.
