Coconut Chutney
A popular South Indian condiment, coconut chutney is a perfect accompaniment to idli, dosa, and vada. It's a simple and quick recipe with a blend of fresh coconut, chilies, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - A sprig
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Salt - To taste
- Ginger - 1 inch piece
- Roasted chana dal - 2 tablespoons
- Green chilies - 2-3
- Fresh grated coconut - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a blender, add the grated coconut, green chilies, roasted chana dal, ginger, salt, and water. Blend until smooth.
- Transfer the chutney to a bowl.
- Heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
- Pour this tempering over the chutney and mix well.
- Coconut chutney is ready to serve with idli, dosa, or vada.
