Chicken Choila
Chicken Choila is a traditional Nepali dish made with marinated grilled chicken, spices, and served with beaten rice.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Beaten rice (chiura) - 1 cup, soaked in water
- Lime wedges - For serving
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Green chilies - 2, finely chopped
- Salt - To taste
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Mustard oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Chicken breast - 2 cups, cooked and shredded
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, mustard oil, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken with the marinade.
- Cover the bowl and let the chicken marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Heat a grill pan or grill over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated chicken until cooked through and slightly charred, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Remove the grilled chicken from the heat and let it cool slightly. Then, shred the chicken into small pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, chopped green chilies, chopped onion, and chopped cilantro. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Serve the Chicken Choila with soaked beaten rice (Chiura) and lime wedges on the side.
