Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Wash the beaten rice (chiura) and soak it in water for 5 minutes. Drain the water and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat ghee and add grated ginger, minced garlic, and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
  3. Add boiled black-eyed peas (bodi), boiled and diced potatoes, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth. Add salt and mix well.
  5. In a serving plate, arrange the soaked beaten rice (chiura), cooked black-eyed peas and potatoes mixture, yogurt, roasted soybeans, roasted peanuts, roasted sesame seeds, roasted beaten rice (chiura), and chopped cilantro.
  6. Drizzle mustard oil and lemon juice over the samay baji.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the traditional flavors of Samay Baji!
