Cherry Pie
This classic cherry pie is made with fresh cherries and a flaky crust.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Coarse sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Unsalted butter - 1 tablespoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 1/4 cup
- Granulated sugar - 1 cup
- Fresh cherries - 4 cups, pitted
- Pie crust - 2, store-bought or homemade
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Roll out one of the pie crusts and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
- Pour the cherry mixture into the pie crust.
- Dot the top of the cherry mixture with small pieces of butter.
- Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips.
- Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern over the cherry mixture.
- Brush the top of the pie crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
