Cherry Apple Pie
A delightful blend of sweet cherries and tart apples baked in a flaky pie crust.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Coarse sugar - For sprinkling
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Cherries - 2 cups, pitted
- Apples - 4, peeled and sliced
- Pie crust - 2 sheets
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate.
- In a large bowl, combine the apples, cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Pour the fruit mixture into the pie crust.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the fruit. Crimp the edges to seal.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before serving.
