Che Troi Nuoc
Chè Trôi Nước is a traditional Vietnamese dessert made with glutinous rice balls filled with mung bean paste, served in a sweet ginger syrup.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
- Ginger - 1 small piece, sliced
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Mung bean paste - 1/2 cup
- Glutinous rice flour - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour with water to form a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into small portions and flatten each portion with your palm.
- Place a small amount of mung bean paste in the center of each flattened dough portion.
- Gently shape the dough into balls, ensuring the mung bean paste is completely enclosed.
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and add sugar and ginger slices to make the ginger syrup.
- Drop the glutinous rice balls into the boiling ginger syrup and cook until they float to the surface.
- Remove the cooked rice balls from the pot and transfer them to a bowl of cold water.
- In a separate bowl, mix coconut milk with a bit of ginger syrup for added flavor.
- To serve, place the rice balls in individual bowls, pour the ginger syrup over them, and drizzle with coconut milk.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
