Chapati
Chapati, also known as roti, is a staple flatbread from the Indian subcontinent, made from stoneground wholemeal flour, traditionally known as atta.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - For brushing
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 1 cup
- Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Gradually add water to the flour and knead into a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle.
- Heat a flat pan or tawa over medium heat.
- Place the rolled dough on the hot tawa and cook until it puffs up and brown spots appear on the bottom.
- Flip the chapati and cook the other side until brown spots appear.
- Brush the chapati with a little oil and remove from the tawa.
- Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Serve the chapati warm with curry or any dish of your choice.
