Chapati
Chapati, also known as roti, is a staple flatbread from the Indian subcontinent, made from stoneground wholemeal flour, traditionally known as atta.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 1 cup
- Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Gradually add water to the flour mixture, kneading the dough until it is smooth and pliable.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and place a rolled chapati on it. Cook until small bubbles appear on the surface.
- Flip the chapati and cook the other side until it has brown spots.
- Remove the chapati from the pan and brush it with a little oil.
- Repeat with the remaining dough portions. Serve the chapatis warm.
