Caramelized Pear Bread Pudding
A warm, comforting dessert made with sweet caramelized pears and a rich, creamy custard.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Milk - 2 cups
- Eggs - 4
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Pears - 3, peeled and sliced
- Bread - 6 cups, cubed
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the pears and brown sugar and cook until the pears are caramelized.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add the bread cubes to the egg mixture and stir until the bread is fully soaked.
- Spread half of the bread mixture in the prepared baking dish. Layer with half of the caramelized pears, then repeat with the remaining bread and pears.
- Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
