This Cajun-inspired meat pie is filled with a flavorful mixture of ground meat, vegetables, and spices, all wrapped in a flaky pastry crust.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
- Pie crust - 2 sheets
- Beef broth - 1/2 cup
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Thyme - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Cajun seasoning - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Celery - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Bell pepper - 1, finely chopped
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Ground pork - 1/2 pound
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and pork over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, celery, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the Cajun seasoning, salt, black pepper, paprika, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Roll out one sheet of pie crust and line a 9-inch pie dish with it.
- Pour the meat mixture into the pie crust.
- Roll out the second sheet of pie crust and place it on top of the meat mixture. Seal the edges and cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Allow the meat pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
