Briouats
Briouats are delicious Moroccan pastries filled with a savory mixture of meat, vegetables, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Butter - 1/2 cup, melted
- Phyllo dough - 12 sheets
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 1/2 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
- Add the cilantro, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Cut the phyllo dough into strips, about 3 inches wide.
- Take one strip of phyllo dough and brush it with melted butter.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture at one end of the strip.
- Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle, then continue folding the triangle up the strip until you reach the end.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Place the briouats on a baking sheet and brush them with melted butter.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
