Bread and Butter Pudding
A traditional British dessert, Bread and Butter Pudding is a warm, comforting dish made from slices of buttered bread, raisins, and a creamy custard.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 75g
- Milk - 600ml
- Eggs - 4
- Raisins - 75g
- Butter - 50g, softened
- White bread - 8 slices
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Butter the bread slices on one side, then cut them into triangles.
- Arrange half of the bread triangles in the bottom of a baking dish, buttered-side up. Sprinkle over half of the raisins.
- Arrange the remaining bread triangles on top, then sprinkle over the remaining raisins.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and nutmeg. Pour this mixture over the bread and raisins.
- Let the pudding sit for 15 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the custard.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
- Serve warm.
