Boerewors

Boerewors is a traditional South African sausage made from beef, mixed with either pork or lamb and a mixture of spices. It is often barbecued, but can be cooked in an oven or pan.

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, pork fat, coriander, salt, pepper, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
  2. Add the vinegar and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture and mix well.
  3. Rinse the sausage casings in warm water and keep in a bowl of warm water.
  4. Using a sausage stuffer, stuff the meat mixture into the casings.
  5. Twist the sausages into links or leave as one long sausage.
  6. Grill the boerewors over medium-high heat, turning often, until browned and cooked through, about 20 minutes.
  7. Serve the boerewors hot with your favorite side dishes.
