Black Cod with Miso
This is a traditional Japanese dish that is savory, sweet, and incredibly flavorful. The cod is marinated in a miso-based sauce and then broiled to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Green onions - 2, thinly sliced
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Sake - 1/4 cup
- Mirin - 1/4 cup
- White miso paste - 1/2 cup
- Black cod fillets - 4 (6 ounce)
Let's Get Started
- In a small saucepan, combine the miso paste, mirin, sake, and sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved.
- Let the miso mixture cool to room temperature.
- Place the cod fillets in a dish and cover with the miso mixture. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours.
- Preheat the broiler. Remove the cod from the marinade and place on a broiler pan.
- Broil the cod for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and the top is slightly caramelized.
- Garnish with the sliced green onions before serving.
