Beijing Style Tofu
This Beijing-style tofu is a delicious and healthy dish, featuring tofu stir-fried with a variety of vegetables and a savory sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon, mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Red bell pepper - 1, diced
- Green bell pepper - 1, diced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Firm tofu - 1 block, drained and cubed
Let's Get Started
- Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium heat.
- Add the tofu and fry until golden on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the garlic and ginger and fry until fragrant.
- Add the bell peppers and stir-fry for a few minutes until they begin to soften.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar. Pour this into the pan and stir well.
- Return the tofu to the pan and stir to coat in the sauce.
- Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the Beijing-style tofu hot with steamed rice.
