Let's Get Started

  1. Season the beef roast with salt and pepper and place it in a slow cooker.
  2. Add the water and beef broth to the slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
  4. Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
  5. Mix the cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry and stir it into the broth in the slow cooker to thicken it.
  6. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir to coat it in the gravy.
  7. Slice the kummelweck rolls in half and pile the shredded beef on the bottom half of each roll.
  8. Top with horseradish to taste and the top half of the roll.
