This BBQ pulled pork sandwich is made with tender slow-cooked pork, smothered in tangy barbecue sauce, and served on a soft bun.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Coleslaw - Optional, for serving
- Hamburger buns - 6
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1 tablespoon
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Apple cider vinegar - 1/4 cup
- Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
- Barbecue sauce - 2 cups
- Pork shoulder - 4 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to make the barbecue sauce.
- Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and pour the barbecue sauce over it, making sure to coat all sides.
- Cover the roasting pan with foil and roast in the oven for 6 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- Remove the pork from the oven and let it cool slightly. Shred the pork using two forks.
- Place the shredded pork back into the roasting pan with the remaining barbecue sauce and mix well to coat the pork.
- Return the pan to the oven, uncovered, and cook for an additional 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Toast the hamburger buns if desired.
- Assemble the sandwiches by placing a generous amount of pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw if desired, and cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
