Basmati Rice Kheer

Let's Get Started

  1. Wash the basmati rice under running water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large saucepan, bring the milk to a boil.
  3. Add the washed basmati rice to the boiling milk and cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the rice is cooked and the milk has thickened, about 30 minutes.
  4. Add sugar, crushed cardamom pods, saffron strands, sliced almonds, chopped pistachios, and raisins to the rice mixture. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in rose water.
  6. Let the kheer cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  7. Serve chilled and garnish with additional sliced almonds and pistachios, if desired.
