Ingredients - Serves 10

Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and yeast mixture. Add the vegetable oil and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 2 hours.
  4. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a bowl, combine the ground pork, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper.
  5. After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it with your hand. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each piece of dough, then gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the bun.
  6. Place the buns on a piece of parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Steam the buns in a steamer for about 15 minutes, until they are puffed up and cooked through.
