Banh Can
This traditional Vietnamese dish is made with sticky rice, pork, and mushrooms.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Scallions - 2, thinly sliced
- Eggs - 2, lightly beaten
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, diced
- Mushrooms - 1/2 cup, diced
- Pork - 1 pound, ground
- Sticky rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 30 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the pork, mushrooms, onion, garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the pork mixture to the skillet and cook until the pork is cooked through, about 10 minutes.
- Add the eggs and scallions and cook until the eggs are cooked through, about 5 minutes.
- Drain the sticky rice and add it to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the rice is heated through, about 5 minutes.
- Serve the banh can hot.
