Apple Cider Donuts
These delicious apple cider donuts are perfect for fall. They're sweet, fluffy, and full of apple flavor.
Ingredients - Serves 12
- Cinnamon sugar - For coating
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Buttermilk - 1/2 cup
- Nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Eggs - 2
- Butter - 2 tablespoons, melted
- Sugar - 3/4 cup
- Apple cider - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, reduce the apple cider over medium heat until it's about 1/4 cup. Let it cool.
- In a large bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk and reduced apple cider. Mix until just combined.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or round cookie cutter.
- Fry the donuts in the hot oil until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
- Drain the donuts on paper towels, then roll in cinnamon sugar while still warm.
