This traditional Dutch apple pie is a delightful dessert filled with sweet, spiced apples and raisins.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Raisins - 1/2 cup
- Cinnamon - 2 teaspoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Apples - 6, peeled and sliced
- Egg - 1
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Butter - 1 cup, cold and diced
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, butter, sugar, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom and sides of a pie dish.
- In another bowl, combine the apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and raisins. Mix well.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie dish.
- Roll out the remaining dough and cut into strips. Arrange the strips on top of the apple filling in a lattice pattern.
- Bake for 60 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.
- Let the pie cool before serving.
