Aloo Matar Pulao with Basmati Rice
Aloo Matar Pulao is a flavorful and aromatic rice dish made with basmati rice, potatoes, and green peas.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Water - 2 cups
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Green peas - 1 cup
- Potatoes - 2 medium, diced
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Wash the basmati rice under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add grated ginger and minced garlic. Sauté for a minute.
- Add diced potatoes and green peas. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
- Add soaked and drained basmati rice to the pan. Stir gently to coat the rice with the spices.
- Pour water into the pan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Remove the pan from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork. Add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix well.
