Aloo Chop
Aloo Chop is a popular Indian street food made with mashed potatoes and spices, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt - To taste
- Oil - For deep frying
- Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green chili - 2, finely chopped
- Onion - 1 medium-sized, finely chopped
- Potatoes - 4 medium-sized, boiled and mashed
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chili, grated ginger, coriander leaves, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth mixture.
- Take a small portion of the potato mixture and shape it into a round or oval-shaped chop.
- Roll the chop in breadcrumbs, ensuring it is coated evenly from all sides.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat.
- Carefully place the coated potato chop into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Remove the fried aloo chop from the oil and drain excess oil on a paper towel.
- Serve hot with ketchup or chutney of your choice.
