Air Fryer Soft Pretzels
These homemade soft pretzels are perfectly golden and deliciously chewy, made with an air fryer for a healthier twist.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Melted butter - 2 tablespoons
- Coarse salt - To taste
- Water - 4 cups
- Baking soda - 1/4 cup
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Warm water - 1 cup
- Active dry yeast - 2 1/4 teaspoons
- All-purpose flour - 3 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the baking soda.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long rope and shape it into a pretzel.
- Carefully place the pretzels, one at a time, into the boiling water for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a greased air fryer basket.
- Brush the pretzels with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Air fry the pretzels for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
