Ingredients - Serves 12

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until the yeast is foamy.
  2. Add the sugar, butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover the dish with a towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and brush with additional melted butter, if desired. Serve warm.
