Aburaage
Aburaage is a Japanese dish made from soybeans. It is deep-fried tofu pouches that can be stuffed with rice or other fillings.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooked rice - 2 cups
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Aburaage - 4 pieces
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the aburaage under hot water to remove excess oil. Cut them in half and open them up to make pouches.
- In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and water. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the aburaage to the saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes, turning occasionally.
- Remove the aburaage from the saucepan and let them cool.
- Stuff the aburaage pouches with the cooked rice and garnish with the chopped green onions.
