Zagorski Štrukli
Zagorski Štrukli is a traditional Croatian dish made with rolled dough filled with a mixture of cheese, eggs, and sour cream.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg - 1
- Sour cream - 1 cup
- Cottage cheese - 2 cups
- Butter - 2 tablespoons, melted
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2
- All-purpose flour - 3 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, eggs, milk, salt, and melted butter. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions and roll each portion into a thin rectangle.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, sour cream, egg, and salt until well combined.
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly over one of the rolled dough rectangles.
- Roll up the dough tightly, starting from one of the long sides.
- Cut the rolled dough into small pieces, about 2 inches in length.
- Place the cut pieces in a greased baking dish, making sure they are close together.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top of the Štrukli.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
