Yosenabe
Yosenabe is a comforting Japanese hot pot that's easy to make at home. This dish is perfect for a cold day and can be customized with your favorite ingredients.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sake - 2 tablespoons
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Dashi stock - 4 cups
- Tofu - 1 block, cubed
- Shiitake mushrooms - 8, stems removed
- Carrots - 2, sliced
- Napa cabbage - 1/2 head, chopped
- Shrimp - 8, peeled and deveined
- Chicken thighs - 4, boneless and skinless
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, add the dashi stock, soy sauce, mirin, and sake. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add the chicken thighs to the pot and cook until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
- Add the shrimp, napa cabbage, carrots, shiitake mushrooms, and tofu to the pot. Cover and simmer until the vegetables are tender and the shrimp is cooked through, about 15 minutes.
- Serve the yosenabe hot, with steamed rice on the side if desired.
