Wontons in Chili Oil
These wontons in chili oil are a delicious and spicy appetizer. The wontons are filled with a flavorful mixture of ground pork and spices, and then served in a spicy chili oil sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped, for garnish
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Rice vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Chili oil - 1/4 cup
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Ground pork - 1/2 pound
- Wonton wrappers - 24
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Place a small spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, and then fold the two corners of the triangle towards each other. Press to seal the edges.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cook the wontons in batches for about 5 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- In a small saucepan, heat the chili oil, rice vinegar, and sugar over low heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Place the cooked wontons in a serving dish and pour the chili oil sauce over them. Toss gently to coat.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
