Unstuffed Cabbage Bowls
This recipe is a deconstructed version of traditional stuffed cabbage rolls, served in a bowl for easy eating.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooked rice - 2 cups
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Tomato sauce - 1 can (8 ounces)
- Diced tomatoes - 1 can (14.5 ounces)
- Green cabbage - 1/2 head, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, chopped
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add the cabbage, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
