Tsagaan Idee
Tsagaan Idee is a traditional Mongolian dish made with lamb, rice, and vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Water - 4 cups
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Rice - 1 cup
- Potatoes - 4 medium, diced
- Carrots - 2 medium, sliced
- Onion - 1 large, chopped
- Lamb - 1 kg, cut into cubes
Let's Get Started
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the lamb cubes and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.
- Add the sliced carrots, diced potatoes, rice, salt, black pepper, and cumin. Stir well to combine.
- Pour in the water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the lamb is tender and the rice is cooked.
- Stir in the chopped cilantro and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
