Tomato Rice

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes. Then cook the rice and set it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. When they start to splutter, add curry leaves and green chillies.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes away.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and salt. Cook until tomatoes are mushy.
  6. Add the cooked rice to the tomato mixture and mix gently.
  7. Cover and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  8. Tomato rice is ready to serve. Enjoy it hot with raita or any side dish of your choice.
