Tamagoyaki
Tamagoyaki is a traditional Japanese rolled omelette made with eggs, soy sauce, and mirin.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Eggs - 4
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, soy sauce, mirin, and salt.
- Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.
- Pour a thin layer of the egg mixture into the pan and tilt the pan to spread it evenly.
- Once the bottom is set but the top is still slightly runny, start rolling the omelette from one end to the other using a spatula or chopsticks.
- Push the rolled omelette to one side of the pan and add another thin layer of the egg mixture.
- Tilt the pan to spread the new layer of egg mixture under the rolled omelette.
- Once the new layer is set but the top is still slightly runny, roll the omelette again towards the other end.
- Repeat steps 5-7 until all the egg mixture is used and you have a thick rolled omelette.
- Remove the omelette from the pan and let it cool slightly before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
