Taiwanese Sausage
A popular street food in Taiwan, these sausages are sweet, savory, and perfect for grilling.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sausage casings - 10 feet
- White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Rice wine - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Pork fat - 1/4 pound, ground
- Pork shoulder - 1 pound, ground
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, pork fat, sugar, soy sauce, rice wine, and white pepper.
- Rinse the sausage casings under cold water and keep them in a bowl of water.
- Using a sausage stuffer, stuff the pork mixture into the casings.
- Twist the sausages into 6-inch links.
- Let the sausages dry in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- Preheat a grill to medium heat.
- Grill the sausages for about 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and browned.
- Serve the sausages hot.
