Sękacz
Sękacz is a traditional Polish cake made with layers of buttery batter and baked on a rotating spit.
Ingredients - Serves 12
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemon zest - 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Eggs - 6
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1 cup, softened
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a sękacz mold or bundt pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually add the flour, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the greased mold or bundt pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 2 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate and let cool completely before slicing and serving.
